How To Report A Bug

When to Use It

If you are testing something new and see something wrong, working in CBS as usual with an unusual result, or receive an error you cannot seem to troubleshoot, then it is time to Report a Bug.

Why Report a Bug and Not Send Email?

Reporting a Bug is much preferred over sending Bill an email. It routes to more people, which can improve the speed of resolution and tracks the issue and notifies you when there has been a change in status or resolution of the issue.

Here is How to Report a Bug

1. After logging in to CBS

  • Click on Help
  • Go to Report a Bug

2. You will be prompted to log into the Feature Request/Bug Tracker feature.

  • input your NetID and password to access the feature

3. From the options available (Accounting System, Intranet, Personnel, Purchase Processing System, Purchase Request System, and Reporting System) decide what category your Bug falls into.

  • Since these categories mirror the modules or tabs across the screen in CBS, you should select the module for which you would like to report a bug. Don't worry too much if you are not sure. Better to submit it without certainty than not submit it at all.

4. To make your selection, click on the small image of a drop down menu next to the category on the far right hand side.

5. Click "New Issue" from the list

6. Give a descriptive title of the issue

7. Rate the importance of your Bug by selecting what you believe to be the priority

8. Choose a category from the drop down list. Selecting a category helps the Bug Report route to the correct individual.

9. Enter details about the Bug into the text box, being sure to be specific about what you were doing when the issue occurred, how you thought it should act, how it did act, and provide a snip or print screen, if possible.

10. Click "Save" and your Bug Report will route to the appropriate individual.
